Climbing spots, Kandersteg, Switzerland

1. Bire

Nice and really easy multipitch route around 450-500 meters long. Graded as 5a, but most of the pitches are easier, 4b/4c, and only few of the pitches are 5a´s. The route is really easy so you can actually climb it pretty much in hiking boots, but it´s still a good practice multipitch for beginners.

There´s also a harder route available, Biranah 6a+ (link to the topo).

2. Oeschiwald forest (link to the topo)

A really nice climbing wall at a really shady location though. The grades start from 6a+ and they go up to 7c, but some routes can be climbed only halfway, when they are bit easier around 4c/5a.

3. Wildi

Probably the most hardcore climbing wall of Kandersteg. The grades start from 6b+ and they go up until 8b+. It´s located quite close to the main road, so the approach is really easy and quick, which makes it perfect for e.g. evening climbs.

4. Ueschenen wall (including the topo)

The multipitching place, there are about 21 multipitch routes in lengths 120m, 160m and 220m. The grades vary from 4b to 6c.

And that´s not all, there´s also a smaller wall of single pitch routes. There are 8 routes and they vary from 4c to 6c.

5. Gällihorn

One nice peak to multipitch up. Two different routes up, Gälliwändli 5a and Löwenherz 6a+. They are both 8 pitches long.

Gälliwändli goes on the NE-face of Gällihorn and it starts almost right from the path as marked on the map.

6. Winteregg (including the topo)

Totally awesome place to climb. Only a 5-minute walk from Sunnbuel cable car station with a really good range of routes. There are about 60 routes and the grades vary from 4 to 8b, so it´s definetely a really good climbing spot for everyone.
